Each year, the IHE-Europe Connectathon WEEK brings together a wide variety of events, all happening in the same place.
The 2026 IHE-Europe Connectathon Week is set for 23–27 March 2026 in Brussels, Belgium — at The EGG Brussels, a dynamic venue in the heart of Europe.
Once again, interoperability leaders, vendors, healthcare institutions, and standards experts will gather to test, refine, and validate health IT systems — ensuring trusted, cross-border data exchange for the benefit of patients everywhere.
To help you navigate, here is an overview of the different activities and what makes them unique:
IHE-Europe Connectathon – The main testing event
The Connectathon is the core of the week: a large-scale testing event where companies and institutions verify the interoperability of their systems against IHE profiles. It is a hands-on, highly technical environment that ensures healthcare IT solutions can work together in real-world settings.
IHE-Europe Experience Days – The conference
While the Connectathon is technical, the Experience Days are designed for a broader audience. This two-day conference offers presentations, discussions, and demonstrations, allowing participants to discover the latest trends, success stories, and innovations in interoperability.
Plugathons – Testing for the early stage
Plugathons are similar to the Connectathon, but they focus on technologies and standards that are at an earlier stage of maturity. They are a great place for innovators and developers to test new ideas and explore future interoperability solutions.
Additional Meetings and Initiatives
The IHE Connectathon Week is also the perfect occasion for many projects and communities to gather. European projects, working groups, and other initiatives often take advantage of the presence of experts and stakeholders to hold side meetings and exchange ideas.
National Events
Each year, the host country adds its own flavour to the week with national activities. Since this year the Connectathon takes place in Belgium, several Belgian events will be organised alongside the international program.
