EDHS2 Workshop

Join us for a focused brainstorming session exploring standardization challenges in secondary use of health data under the EHDS regulation.

The Core Challenge:
While primary use has mature interoperability standards (IHE profiles, HL7 FHIR, OpenEHR, etc.), secondary use datasets standardization is largely fragmented with OMOP or FHIR Analytics used along with proprietary information models catered to use case-specific research scenarios. The EHDS regulation requires metadata standardisation but does not explicitly mandate standards for specific datasets, potentially limiting possibilities for secondary use or making data preparation and stewardship more complex. It is thus uncharted territory: do we need standards for data processing pipelines, terminologies, and quality assurance that enable reliable analytics, research, and AI development?

Special Feature:
The workshop concludes with a VIP Connectathon Floor Tour to see interoperability testing principles in action, demonstrating how current testing methodologies can be extended to secondary use scenarios.

Workshop Goals:
Map current standardization gaps between primary and secondary use
Brainstorm priority areas for new standards development
Connect IHE testing expertise with secondary use implementation needs
Generate actionable input for Standards Development Organizations

Format:
Interactive working session with structured brainstorming, group discussions, and practical demonstrations through the Connectathon floor tour.

Who Should Attend:
IHE implementers, standards developers, EHDS2 project teams, health data professionals interested in the evolving standardization landscape.

Moderation:
Workshop moderated by Dmitry Etin (member of various secondary use initiatives). Connectathon floor tour led by Jürgen Brandstätter from IHE.

Workshop Registration:
Participation in the workshop is free of charge, subject to capacity.
